2024-10-14

Today, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) formally signed an artificial intelligence business cooperation agreement with Tencent. This partnership marks a new phase of deep collaboration in the AI sector, aiming to drive the innovation and application of AI technologies through resource integration and complementary strengths.

Under the agreement, both parties will engage in comprehensive collaboration across key areas such as cutting-edge AI models, software-hardware integration, data resources, AI-driven applications, security governance, and international cooperation. The partnership encompasses multiple facets including technological innovation, standard development, evaluation and testing, application demonstrations, industrial promotion, and consultation exchanges, with the goal of achieving resource sharing and mutual benefits.

At the signing ceremony, Jiang Jie, Vice President of Tencent Group, stated that Tencent will seize this opportunity to collaborate more deeply with CAICT in areas such as AI technology standardization, industry research, large-scale model benchmarking, intelligent computing cluster development, and the implementation of large-scale model applications. Jiang emphasized that Tencent will leverage its extensive expertise in AI technologies to jointly advance the standardization, industrialization, and internationalization of AI with CAICT.

Tencent has made steady progress in the field of artificial intelligence. In September 2023, Tencent unveiled the HunYuan large-scale model, marking its full embrace of the era of large models. In July this year, Jiang Jie revealed that the HunYuan model is actively undergoing technical upgrades from multimodal to fully modal capabilities. Tencent plans to promote the model through the Tencent YuBao App, internal business operations, and various application scenarios, and will also open it up to external applications via Tencent Cloud.

Furthermore, at the 2024 Tencent Global Digital Ecosystem Conference held in September this year, Tencent launched the next-generation large-scale model—HunYuan Turbo. This model utilizes an advanced Mixture of Experts (MoE) architecture, achieving a 100% increase in inference efficiency and a 50% reduction in inference costs compared to its predecessor, demonstrating Tencent's formidable strength and innovative spirit in artificial intelligence technologies.
