At this year's annual developer conference, Apple announced the highly anticipated OpenAI collaboration agreement, but remained silent on the specific terms of the agreement.
This collaboration will integrate ChatGPT into Siri, forming Apple Intelligence. This will enhance the voice assistant that has been an integral part of iPhone, iPad, and Mac since 2011.
With the help of OpenAI, Siri will now be able to handle more tasks and complete complex operations. Despite rumors about the collaboration between the two parties circulating for several months, it is reported that the deal did not involve any monetary transactions.
Insiders told Bloomberg that Apple did not pay any fees to OpenAI as part of the collaboration.
"Instead, Apple believes that promoting OpenAI's brand and technology to hundreds of millions of devices has equal or greater value than monetary payment."
As publishers pointed out, if OpenAI can convince Apple users to pay $20 per month to use ChatGPT Plus, they may profit from this deal. If these individuals register on Apple devices, the iPhone manufacturer will also receive a commission.
All of this is part of driving the development of artificial intelligence. It is reported that Apple is also in discussions with Google to provide Gemini integration services to iOS users. There are also reports that Apple has discussed its Claude AI chatbot with Anthropic.
Elon Musk immediately criticized the collaboration between Apple and OpenAI.
On the day of the announcement (June 10th), Tesla's CEO quickly stated on his social media platform, "If Apple integrates OpenAI at the operating system level, my company will ban Apple devices. This is an unacceptable security violation."
"Visitors must check their Apple devices at the entrance, and they will be stored in a Faraday cage."
