Google is rolling out its Gemini Live voice chat mode for free to all Android users. Users can access this conversational AI chatbot on their Android devices through the Gemini app or its overlay layer. Google announced Gemini Live for the first time during the Pixel 9 launch event last month, but it was previously only available to Gemini Advanced subscribers. Similar to the voice chat feature of ChatGPT, users can ask Gemini Live questions out loud and even interrupt it mid-speech. Additionally, users can choose from various voice options. "We are now starting to roll out the English version of Gemini Live for free to more Android app users. Go live, chat with Gemini, explore new topics, or brainstorm. Keep an eye out for Gemini Live in the Gemini app." - Gemini app official Twitter, September 12, 2024. According to 9to5Google, users can access this feature by clicking on the new waveform icon in the bottom right corner of the app or overlay layer, which will open the microphone and allow users to ask Gemini Live questions. At the bottom of the screen, users will see options to "Keep" Gemini's response or "End" the conversation. Currently, Gemini Live is only available in English, but Google has stated that it will be launched on iOS in the future and will support new languages.
