GPT-5 Potentially to be Deployed in ChatGPT as Early as This Summer
OpenAI has released several versions of its large language models (LLMs) used in ChatGPT, including GPT-4 and GPT-4 Turbo. However, insiders suggest that the highly anticipated GPT-5 may be released as early as mid-year.
According to Business Insider, GPT-5 is expected to make significant breakthroughs based on GPT-4, with early testers describing it as "substantially superior." This new LLM has impressed testers and enterprise clients, including CEOs of companies who have experienced GPT robots customized for their businesses and powered by GPT-5.
A customer who received a GPT-5 demo from OpenAI told Business Insider that OpenAI hinted at some upcoming features of GPT-5, including its ability to interact with other AI programs developed by OpenAI. OpenAI refers to these AI programs as "AI agents" that can autonomously perform tasks.
This feature suggests that OpenAI is developing a connected AI tool ecosystem, allowing its different AI systems to collaborate on complex tasks or provide more comprehensive services.
The specific release date of GPT-5 has not been announced. It is reported that OpenAI is training the model and will conduct red team testing to identify and address potential issues before the public release.
It is currently unclear whether GPT-5 will be exclusively available to Plus subscribers, who pay $20 per month for access to GPT-4. GPT-3.5 supports the free tier of ChatGPT, but anyone can access GPT-4 Turbo for free in Copilot by selecting a creative or precise conversation style.
Against the backdrop of reports of declining quality in GPT-4, OpenAI has been the subject of scrutiny and dissatisfaction from users. Therefore, now is a good time to release an updated and more intelligent model.
