ChatGPT Update: Enhancing User Experience with More Concise Responses

2024-04-15

ChatGPT has just received a major new update. On April 12th, OpenAI announced that paying ChatGPT users, those who subscribe to ChatGPT Plus, Team, or Enterprise, can now enjoy an upgraded version of the GPT-4 Turbo model.

This upgraded model, named "gpt-4-turbo-2024-04-09," brings multiple improvements in writing, reasoning, mathematics, and coding. It also features an updated knowledge base, as it was trained on publicly available data up until December 2023. In comparison, the previous version of GPT-4 Turbo was only trained until April 2023.

OpenAI further added in an X article that ChatGPT will be "more direct, concise, and use more conversational language" when generating written responses.

OpenAI faces numerous challenges in a month

This update to ChatGPT comes after a tense month for OpenAI. While its video generation model, Sora, caused a stir online, it has also been plagued by copyright infringement allegations. Mira Murati, Chief Technology Officer of OpenAI, stated that they are unsure if Sora's training data includes content from YouTube, Instagram, or Facebook.

"From the creator's perspective, when creators upload their hard work to our platform, they have certain expectations," said Neal Mohan, CEO of YouTube, in an interview with Bloomberg.

"One of those expectations is that the terms of service will be followed. It does not allow for downloading content such as transcripts or video clips, which clearly violates our terms of service. These are the rules regarding content on our platform."

However, these allegations are not new. In fact, OpenAI has been the subject of numerous lawsuits. Recently, The New York Times filed a lawsuit against the company for copyright infringement, and comedian Sarah Silverman is one of several authors who have sued OpenAI under California's unfair competition law. Hopefully, Chat-GPT 5 can reduce legal troubles.
