Microsoft is expanding its application to the field of artificial intelligence through a new Xbox AI chatbot. Currently in the testing phase, this chatbot can automate support tasks, help customers resolve inquiries, and handle game refunds.
The existence of this chatbot has been confirmed by the company. Haiyan Zhang, General Manager of Xbox Game AI, stated, "We are testing Xbox support virtual assistants, which are internal prototypes of animated characters that can be queried for Xbox support topics through voice or text."
"This prototype allows players to easily and quickly obtain support on various topics using natural language, with information sourced from existing Xbox support pages."
The Xbox chatbot will first ask players questions such as "How can I assist you today?" It will then be able to provide support information, including troubleshooting game console issues and subscription payment problems.
Microsoft is no stranger to conversational AI chatbots, as it has its own Azure AI Bot Service, which companies like Vodafone and PwC utilize to build their own support tools. Microsoft has also strengthened its AI team by establishing a new organization called Microsoft AI.
The Future of Xbox Platform and Hardware
This is expected to be part of a broader initiative by Microsoft's gaming division to introduce AI-driven features to the Xbox platform and development tools.
Just a few months ago, Xbox President Sarah Bond stated on the official Xbox podcast that they are committed to bringing more content to fans: "We have more to share..."
"We have also invested in the roadmap for the next generation. We are truly focused on achieving unprecedented technological leaps in the hardware generation, which will enhance the player experience and provide better conditions for creators and their visions."
