Notion to Launch Fully Customizable Email App, Further Expanding Productivity Tools Landscape

2024-10-25

Following its initial foray into calendar applications earlier this year, Notion is set to unveil a brand-new email application next year, aiming to revolutionize email management with highly customizable features. According to the company, the application, named Mail, will "break down emails into fundamental components," enabling users to craft inboxes with varied views, layouts, and functionalities tailored to their preferences.

The Mail application will integrate Notion AI to automatically organize, archive, or compose emails. Additionally, by syncing with the Notion calendar app, its AI capabilities can assist users in scheduling meetings. Users will also benefit from the "one-click snippets" feature, which allows for the swift creation of personalized emails. In some respects, Mail resembles Skiff, the secure email service that Notion acquired in February this year.

Notion is scheduled to launch the Mail application in early 2025, with support for integration with Google and Gmail accounts at the time of release. The app will also be available on iPhone and Android devices. Currently, the Notion Mail application remains in the preview stage, but users can join the waiting list on Notion’s official website to gain access.

In addition to its new Mail app, Notion has introduced a new form tool similar to Google Forms, designed for gathering feedback. The company is also expanding options for custom layouts and launching new automation features that enable users to notify others via Gmail. Furthermore, Notion has updated its marketplace, allowing users to buy and sell Notion templates.

Notion is on track to becoming the all-in-one productivity application businesses need to accomplish all their tasks, and its entry into the email sector may be a pivotal step toward this ambition. It remains to be seen whether Notion will expand its suite with other applications such as presentation tools in the future.
