According to credible sources, renowned semiconductor company Arm is set to launch its own in-house chip development project this year and has successfully secured Meta as a key corporate client. Arm, which is controlled by SoftBank Group, decided to embark on this self-developed chip initiative thanks to the partnership with Meta.
This in-house developed chip is expected to target the server CPU market for large-scale data centers and will be designed with customization options to meet the specific needs of various clients. Arm plans to outsource the production of this chip.
Reports indicate that Arm's first self-developed chip may debut this summer.
This strategic shift holds significant importance for Arm. In the past, Arm primarily earned revenue by licensing its chip designs to companies like Apple and NVIDIA. The launch of the in-house chip project signifies that some of Arm's current customers could become competitors in the future.
