According to reports, AI startup Anthropic is set to unveil its next-generation major AI model in the near future.

Insiders describe Anthropic's new model as a "hybrid" AI capable of toggling between "deep reasoning" and rapid responses. To assist developers in managing costs, the company plans to introduce a "sliding scale" feature alongside the model, as deep reasoning consumes significantly more computational resources.

The report indicates that this upcoming model, which is expected to launch within the coming weeks, outperforms OpenAI's o3-mini-high "reasoning" model in certain programming tasks. Additionally, it excels at analyzing large codebases and other business-related benchmark tests.

On Monday, Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, hinted at details about the new model during an interview. Amodei stated, "We've been focused on building inference models with unique advantages. We're somewhat puzzled by the notion that standard models and inference models must be distinct from one another."
