PwC Becomes the Largest Enterprise Customer of ChatGPT
PwC Partners with OpenAI to Deploy ChatGPT Enterprise to 100,000 Employees
PwC has announced a significant partnership with OpenAI, bringing ChatGPT Enterprise to its workforce of 100,000 employees. This agreement positions PwC as the largest customer and first reseller of OpenAI's enterprise product, ChatGPT Enterprise.
PwC will provide ChatGPT Enterprise to its 75,000 employees in the United States and 26,000 employees in the United Kingdom, totaling over 100,000 licenses. There is potential for expansion to reach PwC's global workforce of 328,000 employees. This collaboration is a major boost for OpenAI, as it already serves 600,000 enterprise users, including 93% of Fortune 500 companies.
This partnership is part of PwC's $1 billion investment in generative artificial intelligence over the next three years. PwC has been training its employees to use AI, developing its own AI tools, and leveraging AI to enhance its consulting platform and operations. This deal is a continuation of these efforts and an opportunity to share firsthand learning experiences with clients.
Bret Greenstein, Partner and Leader of Generative AI at PwC, emphasizes that this initiative is not about replacing jobs but expanding business without adding more personnel. PwC has already witnessed a 20-40% increase in employee productivity using its existing ChatPwC tool built on OpenAI's GPT-4 model.
For OpenAI, this partnership represents a significant milestone in its enterprise sales efforts. Richard Hasslacher, Global Alliance and Partnership Lead at OpenAI, highlights PwC as their first partner to rely on in this manner, serving as both a customer and reseller.
Consulting firms like PwC are positioning themselves as key partners in the digital transformation journey, as they seek to leverage technologies such as generative AI. Other top consulting firms, including Accenture, Deloitte, and EY, have also invested heavily in generative AI.
While specific pricing details have not been disclosed, it is evident that generative AI presents a tremendous growth opportunity for technology providers like OpenAI and consulting firms like PwC. As the technology continues to evolve, we can expect to see more collaborations aimed at harnessing the power of AI for global enterprises.
