Limitless Pendant is part of the entire Limitless system released by the company today. The co-founder of the company, Dan Siroker, previously developed an AI product called Rewind, which is a computer application that can record screens and other data to help you remember every tab, every song, every meeting, and everything you do on your computer. Limitless not only runs on computers but also collects data in the cloud and the real world, making it available on any device. Rewind is still available for those who prefer a fully local, single-computer approach, but Siroker says that the cross-platform opportunity is much greater.
Siroker said, "The core task initially revolves around meetings. Preparing for meetings, transcribing meetings, real-time note-taking during meetings, and summarizing meetings." This application costs $20 per month and can capture audio from your computer's microphone and speakers. You can also grant it access to your email and calendar. Siroker said that this combination can greatly help you track conversations. What was the new application mentioned in the board meeting? Shannon asked which restaurant we should go to next time. Where did we leave off in our discussion two weeks ago when I met with Jake? In theory, Limitless can retrieve this data and use AI models to provide you with instant answers when you ask.
Siroker believes that his company's approach is different from comprehensive AI tools. "We are trying to do a few things extremely well, rather than casting a wide net with shallow depth." His plan is to integrate Limitless into all the applications you use and embed it within those applications. He believes that you should be able to take notes in Notion or get action items in Slack without having to switch to other apps completely. He said, "When I can directly allow you to use what you are already using, why should I make you log in to my cloud-based application?"
Regarding the future of Limitless, Siroker said, "You know, of course, it will do some general interesting facts, confusing things, OpenAI stuff." "The next step is proactive rather than passive. I can access your emails, I can access your Slack messages—when you receive a message and your past context can help answer it, I can directly provide you with a draft."
Siroker said that once Limitless achieves this, the next step is an AI agent that actually represents you and can understand everything about you and do anything for you. Everything will be truly amazing. "But that is a more difficult problem to solve." For now, let's start with meetings.
The upcoming release of Limitless in August may change some things. This $99 device is designed to be with you at all times—Siroker says its battery life can reach 100 hours—and uses beamforming technology to record the voice of the person speaking to you more clearly, rather than the sounds of a coffee shop or auditorium. When it is recording, an LED light will illuminate. The Limitless pendant also has a "consent mode" that can detect unfamiliar voices and will not record until the software hears their consent. Everything you record will be uploaded to Limitless, mixed with your other data, and provided through the application. Siroker believes that capturing good real-world audio is crucial for AI to be used not only for Zoom conference calls.
