Next Month, Meta to Roll Out AI-Powered Features for Ray-Ban Smart Glasses: Object Recognition, Translation, and More
According to reports, Meta will introduce artificial intelligence into its Ray-Ban smart glasses starting next month. These glasses, equipped with multimodal AI capabilities, can perform translations and recognize objects, animals, and landmarks. They have been in the early access stage since December last year.
Users can activate the glasses' smart assistant by saying "Hey Meta" and then provide prompts or ask questions. The response will be delivered through the glasses' built-in speaker.
Although Meta's AI can accurately identify pets and artworks, it is not 100% accurate. It has encountered difficulties in recognizing animals in distant and enclosed areas of the zoo. Despite multiple attempts, it also failed to correctly identify an exotic fruit called "Shijia". As for the AI translation feature, these glasses support English, Spanish, Italian, French, and German.
Over time, Meta may continue to improve these functionalities. Currently, the AI features in the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses are only available to users in the United States through an early access waiting list.
