Apple releases Apple Intelligence: including free and paid versions

2024-07-03

Apple has just launched a new AI product called "Apple Intelligence" which includes multiple features. According to reports, these features are currently available for free on iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. However, according to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, this tool will not be available for free indefinitely.

According to Gurman, Apple will partially divide "Apple Intelligence" into two tiers. One tier will be available for free but with limited functionality, while the paid version will offer full AI capabilities on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Gurman claims that Apple plans to name the paid version "Apple Intelligence+."

In addition, he mentioned that Apple expects to generate more revenue from this paid service than from device sales. Therefore, "Apple Intelligence" is crucial. He also stated that Apple aims to reduce subscription revenue for partners who choose to integrate their AI into their products.

For the iPhone, "Apple Intelligence" is expected to support the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models. The iPhone 16 series, Mac, and iPad with M-series chips are also expected to introduce Apple's AI technology in future releases.

In another report, Gurman revealed that Apple's other goals include implementing AI technology in the Vision Pro mixed reality headset. However, this is not expected to happen soon. The main focus here is the application of this feature in mixed reality, rather than on Macbooks or iPhones.

Apple Intelligence

With Apple Intelligence, users' iPhones can perform various tasks such as prioritizing notifications. In terms of writing tools, it includes features like summarization, error correction, and suggestions.

The "Image Playground" feature will also allow users to create images for free, similar to Meta AI. Apple Intelligence can perform actions on behalf of the user.

Users can ask Apple Intelligence to open specific files, play podcast audio from contacts, and more. This will enable Apple Intelligence to intervene in a contextually relevant manner.
