Google Unveils Imagen 2 Upgrade: Enhanced AI Capabilities for Image Generation and Editing
At the annual Cloud Next conference held in Las Vegas, Google announced the integration of the upgraded version of Imagen 2 into its Vertex AI developer platform. This update brings Google's state-of-the-art image generation AI capabilities to application developers, enabling them to build next-generation AI products that transform users' imagination into high-quality visual assets within seconds.
The latest version of Imagen 2 enhances language understanding and photo realism, positioning Google as a leader in the recent Forrester Computer Vision report. This advanced text-to-image technology is now fully available on Vertex AI, allowing businesses to create images that align with their specific brand requirements.
During the event, Google showcased several exciting features. Firstly, the Text-to-Live Image feature, currently in preview, enables marketing and creative teams to generate animated images, product visualizations, advertisements, GIFs, and storyboards from simple text prompts, bringing static images to life. For example, a blooming flower in morning dew and a delicious stew simmering on a stove were demonstrated, showcasing the lifelike qualities of static images.
Secondly, Google announced the general availability of the AI-generated image watermarking feature, supported by Google DeepMind's SynthID. This ensures the integrity and authenticity of generated images, addressing concerns about digital content modification and misuse.
Additionally, Imagen 2.0 introduces a new editing mode, providing users with more powerful control and creativity. Users can easily remove unwanted elements from images, add new elements, and even expand frames for a broader perspective.
In addition to image generation and editing, Imagen on Vertex AI also offers visual captions, providing text descriptions for images, as well as visual question answering (VQA), providing answers to questions about images. These features further enhance the platform's versatility and potential applications across various industries.
