WhatsApp is joining the AI trend and is reportedly developing a new feature called "Imagine Me" that will allow users to generate their own images using Meta AI.
Although the exact name of this feature has not been officially announced, WABetaInfo has shared leaked information that the feature is currently under development and has not yet been made available to testers.
In a shared screenshot about the AI "Imagine Me" feature, a pop-up window can be seen with the text: "Imagine yourself as anything. Take a photo of yourself and imagine yourself in any scene from the forest to outer space."
This feature requires users to first take a set of initial photos, which can then be used to generate a series of other images. To generate AI images, users simply need to input "Imagine me..." in the Meta AI chat.
People can use these features in other chats by simply typing "@Meta imagine me..." followed by any wild imagination.
It is believed that this feature will be available in future updates and will be optional, meaning users will need to choose to enable it. This may require users to manually enable the feature in settings and then take a set of initial photos.
Meta AI makes the new "Imagine Me" feature in WhatsApp possible.
Meta is the parent company of WhatsApp (as well as Facebook, Instagram, and Threads), so it makes sense for Meta's AI assistant to extend to all its platforms.
This assistant is powered by Meta Lama 3, a large language model that allows users to ask any question to the tool. The Meta team has explained that the chatbot has an "Imagine" feature that can generate AI-generated images in real-time, so this feature may soon be rolled out across all its applications.
These images can also be animated and converted into GIFs for sending on Meta's various social channels.
