Today, Dutch neobank bunq has launched its generative AI platform, Finn. It runs on OpenAI and Meta's open large language model (LLM). The new chatbot feature aims to help users plan their finances, create better budgets, and easily find transactions. According to bunq, this essentially allows users to "live the life they want." "This is basically like having your own personal accountant who knows everything about your personal life and transactions. He keeps all of that in mind and can answer any of your questions," said Ali Niknam, founder and CEO of bunq. While the new AI chatbot interface will replace the search function in the bunq app, Niknam emphasizes that Finn is more than just a search bot. It can select the best answers based on different LLMs (potentially including Gemini in the future) and explain and transform user queries. This allows it to provide "more nuanced" answers than regular search results. "Finn can actually give meaning to all the data generated through transactions. You can ask interesting questions like, 'Hey, where is my favorite restaurant?'" Niknam said.
