Apple Intelligence may appear on iPhone next spring.
According to Mark Gurman's report in the latest issue of "Power On" newsletter by Bloomberg, Siri will undergo significant improvements in the spring of 2025. Apple will open its Apple Intelligence AI system to all users through the iOS 18.4 update. This prediction is more specific than Apple's previous statements, as Apple had only mentioned that flagship AI features would be launched next year.
Apple typically introduces new features gradually through point updates in its operating system. Therefore, it is possible that Siri will gain new capabilities through Apple Intelligence, such as automatically retrieving your ID card from a photo library containing 20,000 images and copying your driver's license number to fill out online forms. However, AI-driven emoji generation or writing assistance features may not be ready yet. Gurman did not directly mention this, but it is worth noting.
As the beta version of iOS 18 begins to integrate these features later this year, and with the release of version 18.4 approaching, it should become clearer which features will be launched first. Meanwhile, it is expected that ChatGPT integration, a new Siri interface (replacing the old circular graphic with a pulsating rainbow surrounding the screen border), and deeper product knowledge will be introduced in the fall of this year, enabling Siri to provide basic technical support.
Looking ahead, Apple's AI plans seem to include the rumored AirPods with built-in cameras, as mentioned by supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo last week. These AirPods are said to be equipped with infrared sensors and work in conjunction with Vision Pro for gesture and motion detection. The functionality described by Gurman is similar to Meta's Ray-Ban glasses, where AI can process images from these headphones to describe your surroundings or provide navigation assistance while walking. Gurman wrote that it may take two generations of products for these new AirPods Pro to be released.
