AMD Releases Ryzen AI PC with NPU

In the "Advancing AI" event, AMD unveiled the Ryzen 8040 series mobile processors, expanding its range of edge computing products. These processors offer improved performance that surpasses competitors, establishing AMD's leadership position in the mobile PC field.

The integrated Ryzen AI Neural Processing Unit (NPU) in the selected models introduces state-of-the-art AI capabilities, surpassing the processing performance of previous AMD models.

To complement the hardware advancements, AMD has introduced the Ryzen AI 1.0 software. This software facilitates seamless deployment of models on Ryzen AI PCs, making it more convenient for users to utilize AI capabilities in various computing scenarios, whether for work, entertainment, or AI-enhanced experiences.

Leading OEM manufacturers such as Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Razer are set to launch products featuring the AMD Ryzen 8040 series processors, expanding the availability and accessibility of these advanced AI processors.

These products are expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2024, ensuring that users can experience the cutting-edge capabilities of these processors across a range of devices.

In addition, AMD emphasizes its commitment to providing high-performance and energy-efficient NPUs and Ryzen AI technology, as stated by Jack Huynh, Senior Vice President and General Manager of AMD's Computing and Graphics Business. The enhanced AI capabilities of the 8040 series processors aim to handle larger models, paving the way for a new stage of AI user experience.

Aside from hardware developments, AMD also highlights its compatibility with the Windows 11 ecosystem, providing users with the full functionality of Windows 11, including robust security.

These processors offer up to 64% faster video editing speed and up to 37% faster 3D rendering speed compared to competitors, meeting the diverse needs of users in various fields. With support for LPDDR5 memory, advanced power management features, and compatibility with the Windows 11 ecosystem, the AMD Ryzen 8040 series processors provide an appealing choice for users pursuing high-end ultrathin PCs, gaming, content creation, and other demanding AI use cases.
