Google has recently announced that its annual developer conference will take place on May 20-21, 2025. The event will once again be held at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, just a few minutes' drive from Google's headquarters, depending on traffic conditions.
This two-day event will feature a variety of content for both the public and developers. The conference will kick off on Tuesday, May 20th with a keynote speech by CEO Sundar Pichai, followed by a series of smaller breakout sessions designed for developers.
Last year's conference primarily focused on Google's generative AI platform Gemini, and it is anticipated that this trend will continue into this year's event. Over recent years, Google I/O has increasingly centered around AI capabilities, especially as competition heats up from companies like OpenAI and DeepSeek.
For those eager to get a glimpse of what's ahead, the I/O 2025 website is now live, offering access to past developer content such as Gemma, Google AI Studio, and NotebookLM.
Before Google's developer conference, NVIDIA GTC will open the developer season from March 17 to 21, followed by Apple's WWDC in June. Additionally, Google will face strong competition this year from Microsoft's Build Conference, which is scheduled to take place in Seattle from May 19 to 22.
