OpenAI is currently working on a new feature called Tasks, which is set to launch in beta on its 12th anniversary. This feature will enable users to pre-set certain prompts for ChatGPT to execute at specified times. According to the code, users can schedule tasks up to two years in advance, and these tasks can also be set to repeat. For instance, a user can set a task for ChatGPT to send AI news from TestingCatalog to their account every morning.
The feature, codenamed Jawbone, has been under development for some time and is likely to be enabled at the model level, as the model needs to learn how to use this tool efficiently. OpenAI will also provide an intuitive user interface that allows users to easily view, pause, delete, and edit scheduled tasks. Adding new tasks will be simple, with users only needing to give instructions to ChatGPT without any complicated steps.
The introduction of the Tasks feature will unlock a variety of use cases, further stimulating user creativity. It's worth noting that ChatGPT can already send push notifications to users, which are available on both web and mobile applications, providing a more convenient way to access information.
Interestingly, Google is also developing a similar feature for its Gemini platform, called Scheduled Prompts. This feature is also in the development stage and has been in the works for some time. It is speculated that Google may also plan to release this feature in December. Therefore, which company will be the first to launch this feature has become a focal point in the industry.
