MidJourney AI Image Generator Launches New Features to Enhance User Personalization

Recently, MidJourney, a widely-used AI image generator with over 19 million users, has introduced new features aimed at enhancing user personalization. The company’s latest updates include a Pinterest-inspired "Inspiration Board" and support for multiple personalized profiles.

The highlight of the new features is the "Inspiration Board," which enables users to upload a curated collection of images to inspire the creation of new artworks. The AI model assesses the diversity and complexity of these uploaded images to develop a unique style profile, blending these visual elements creatively.

Additionally, MidJourney has launched the capability to create multiple personalized profiles, allowing users to effortlessly organize and switch between different styles. Users can now craft several custom versions tailored to MidJourney’s latest image generation AI model version 6.1, each adjusted to their unique aesthetic preferences.

The speed of setting up custom models has also seen a significant increase, with the company reporting a fivefold improvement in image sorting speed. This "sorting" system is MidJourney’s method for training custom models based on user input. Users visit MidJourney’s image sorter and select their preferred image from randomly paired options, continuing this rating process until a certain threshold is achieved, enabling the model to comprehend the user’s favored image types and aesthetic styles.

Currently, users need only complete 40 ratings to begin creating a profile, with optimal stability reached after 200 ratings. Previously, 200 ratings were required to personalize models. While power users may still choose to provide thousands of ratings for maximum precision, this streamlined process reduces the barrier for new users.

In terms of organizational features, the latest update also introduces improvements. Users can name their profiles, designate one or more profiles as default, and track all images associated with specific profiles. These functionalities are especially useful for users managing multiple projects simultaneously or collaborating with others.

David Holz, the founder of MidJourney, announced these updates on the company’s Discord server, explaining that the motivation behind the updates was to provide personalized convenience for a wider range of creative workflows. He emphasized that these new features empower users to take control of their projects while maintaining the flexibility to collaborate with diverse creative teams.

As MidJourney continues to enhance its personalization infrastructure, the company is seeking user feedback through the "Creative and Features" channel. These developments indicate the platform’s commitment to offering users intuitive and powerful tools, marking another step forward in AI-assisted creativity.

Notably, prior to the release of these new features, MidJourney announced an experimental feature named Patchwork last week, which serves as a collaborative image creation whiteboard.
