In the wake of Wednesday's Samsung Unpacked event, new details about the upcoming devices have emerged, courtesy of Adobe. The information reveals that the forthcoming Galaxy S25 series will be among the first smartphones to support the Content Credentials standard, designed to identify AI-generated content.
Content Credentials are established by the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA), which Samsung has now officially joined. C2PA likens this standard to a "nutrition label for digital content," detailing how content was created or edited and whether generative AI technologies were employed.
The introduction of this standard is particularly timely given growing concerns over the spread of misinformation through AI. It initially applies to static images but will eventually extend to videos, audio, and documents as well.
Users can utilize Adobe's Content Authenticity tool, currently in beta, to check for Content Credentials within images.
Besides Samsung and Adobe, other C2PA members include prominent companies from media, social media, AI, and hardware sectors such as Google, Intel, Microsoft, OpenAI, Amazon, BBC, Meta, Sony, Publicis, and Truepic.
