Elon Musk has recently revealed that users of his social media platform will gain complimentary access to his AI chatbot. This announcement was made in the latest blog post from xAI.
The blog post stated, "In the past few weeks of secret testing, we have released a new version of the Grok-2 model, which is three times faster than the previous version and has improved accuracy, compliance with instructions, and multilingual capabilities." This advancement marks another significant breakthrough for xAI in AI technology.
The blog further added, "Today, we are thrilled to announce that we will begin offering the new version of Grok-2 to all users on the X platform for free. As usual, premium and super premium users will enjoy higher usage limits and will be the first to receive any future new features."
Since its launch in August, Grok-2 has introduced numerous new features to X platform users, including web search, citation capabilities, and the Aurora image generator. These additions have enhanced the user experience on social media, making it more rich and convenient.
Additionally, xAI has introduced a new feature called the "Grok Button." This button appears on posts on users' homepages and is designed to help users access relevant background information, understand real-time events, and delve deeper into trending discussion topics. The introduction of this feature further enhances user interaction on the social media platform.
Following a recent $5 billion funding round, xAI's valuation has surged to $50 billion, up from $24 billion in the spring. This increase in valuation reflects the market's optimism regarding xAI's prospects in AI technology development.
However, xAI also faces certain challenges. The company is embroiled in a legal dispute with OpenAI, with Musk attempting to prevent the AI leader from transitioning into a for-profit entity. The outcome of this dispute will significantly impact xAI's future development.
In other AI news, PYMNTS highlighted the rise of Extended Reality (XR) devices last week. Companies like Google have pledged that these tools will "change the way you watch, work, and explore." XR, encompassing Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR), continues to reshape interactions between the digital and physical worlds.
Google's XR operating system was developed in collaboration with Samsung under the codename "Project Moohan," derived from the Korean word for "infinite." This operating system integrates with other commercially available XR headsets, such as Meta's Quest 3, Orion AR glasses, Apple's Vision Pro headset, and XREAL Air AR glasses. The release of these products brings XR technology closer to people's daily lives and work.
The report stated, "Fundamentally, the XR sector presents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for payment innovation. Applications of XR in gaming, e-commerce, healthcare, education, and the workplace all require seamless and secure payment solutions that match the promises of these technologies." This perspective highlights the significant potential of XR technology in future payment innovations.
