Meta to Host LlamaCon Conference Focusing on Open-Source AI Advances

2025-02-19

Meta has recently announced that it will host a new event called "LlamaCon" on April 29, 2025. The conference is designed to share the latest updates on "open-source AI development," helping developers create applications and products. This event will take place several months before the Meta Connect conference, which is scheduled for September 17-18 of the same year.

The name LlamaCon originates from Meta's open-source AI model, Llama. Meta stated that more details about LlamaCon will be disclosed in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, the Meta Connect conference will focus on showcasing the "latest progress of Meta Horizon" and "unveiling the mysteries of future technology."

According to reports, Meta plans to invest billions of dollars in AI research this year and may launch a new pair of smart glasses with a smaller heads-up display. EssilorLuxottica, the company that manufactures the AI-driven Ray-Ban Smart Glasses for Meta, revealed that since its launch in October 2023, the device has sold over two million units.
