The semiconductor giant Nvidia is making moves to enter the server rental market. According to a report by The Information, Nvidia is close to finalizing an agreement to acquire Lepton AI, a company that rents out servers powered by Nvidia's AI chips. Although the source of the report remains undisclosed, it mentions that the deal is valued at several hundred million dollars.
Founded just two years ago, Lepton AI secured $11 million in seed funding from CRV and Fusion Fund in May 2023. In the server rental space, Together AI is another key player. Despite being only slightly older than Lepton AI, this startup has already raised over $500 million in venture capital.
In other news, Nvidia reportedly acquired synthetic data startup Gretel last week.
