Cyberver Launches AI-Based 3D World Creation Platform

2024-09-13

Cybever announced that its AI-based 3D world creation platform will launch a beta version at the end of this month. The company stated that the platform aims to simplify and democratize the development of 3D content for creators and developers, and has already attracted attention from creative studios and asset markets. Cybever is inviting creators from all industries to join its Discord community. Cecilia Shen, CEO of Cybever in Sunnyvale, California, stated in a press release, "Our platform aims to change the way 3D content is created by utilizing three core advantages - retrieval, placement, and generation - and building a stronger ecosystem with artists. By efficiently retrieving relevant assets, accurately placing them in a 3D environment, and ultimately generating new content, we enable creators to turn their visions into reality faster and more effectively. The release of this beta version is a crucial step towards making advanced 3D content development accessible to creators from all industries." Cybever aims to simplify game prototyping and early production stages, which are traditionally known for being labor-intensive and time-consuming in 3D content development. By leveraging AI-driven tools, the platform aims to make these processes more efficient and flexible, allowing creators to iterate and experiment more freely. This enhanced workflow is designed to reduce the time spent in the early development stages, resulting in faster and more innovative project completion. Julien Proux, Chief Content Officer of Room 8 Group, stated, "Our in-house development team has been exploring various AI-driven tools and evaluating them from a production and investment perspective - how well these tools integrate into our workflow and whether we should invest in their development. Cybever's platform has impressed us with its potential to simplify the creative process. 'Cybever's solution has been able to quickly generate high-quality 3D environments, which greatly reduces the workload of our artists and lowers costs for our clients. We are excited about the future enhancements in flexibility and efficiency that this tool will bring, and we believe it will revolutionize the field of 3D creation." Cyberver's platform is cloud-based, allowing users to work from anywhere without relying on local hardware. It utilizes AI to generate layouts, maps, and terrains from sketches and final text descriptions, automatically placing elements such as towns and forests, retrieving 3D assets from the market, and integrating them into 3D scenes. Key features of the beta version will include previewing from sketches to 3D, advanced scene generation, asset diversity, weather effects, terrain and environment editing, and enhanced user experience tools, all aimed at providing greater control, creativity, simplicity, and efficiency for 3D professionals. "We recognize that the current GenAI trend often focuses on generating 3D assets directly from text, which can lead to limitations in terms of quality, scalability, and operability," said Jie Yang, Chief Technology Officer of Cyberver. "Our team consists of AI researchers, experienced engineers, and 3D artists with deep expertise in traditional 3D creation, bringing together different perspectives to develop innovative solutions. By enhancing the creative process with AI instead of replacing it, we ensure that our platform addresses the issues typically associated with GenAI while supporting 3D professionals." Cyberver ensures ethical AI practices by collaborating with 3D asset markets to ensure the use of licensed assets during the content creation process. The platform verifies whether creators and studios have the rights to use these assets. If licensing issues arise, Cyberver proactively provides solutions through its integrated marketplace. Additionally, even when using artists' data in the future, Cyberver will obtain explicit permission and ensure they receive revenue sharing, further strengthening its commitment to fairness and ethical practices. Since the alpha testing in July, Cyberver's platform has attracted interest and support from numerous creative studios and 3D asset markets. Well-known studios such as Technicolor Group, Mod.io, and Room 8 Group have shown great enthusiasm for the platform's potential to simplify the 3D content creation process. Leading asset markets such as TurboSquid and Daz 3D are also partnering with Cyberver, providing their extensive libraries of licensed assets. This collective support has propelled Cyberver's business growth by 400% in just one month, highlighting its influence and potential in the creative industry. Cyberver's vision is to empower creators from various creative industries, including gaming, television, film, and user-generated content (UGC). The possibilities are limitless. The team envisions building an ecosystem that democratizes 3D content creation, making it accessible to everyone from seasoned professionals to passionate hobbyists. By integrating advanced AI capabilities and seamless asset management, Cyberver aims to support a wide range of creative projects, helping creators at all levels turn their ideas into reality with higher efficiency, creativity, and control. Regarding skepticism about whether 3D game creation is suitable for game developers, creators, or consumers, Yang stated in an email, "We are taking a thoughtful, creator-first approach to launching our tools. At this stage, our goal is to support creative collaboration and drive more efficient workflows for game developers, especially in the crucial early production stages." Yang added, "Cyberver simplifies 3D creation with AI and accelerates game developers' prototyping speed through automated terrain generation, layout design, asset retrieval, and placement. For consumers, our intuitive tools also lower the technical barriers, enabling everyone to easily create high-quality 3D worlds for personal projects and various user-generated content." The competition in this field is fierce, with one or two game AI startups emerging every week. Yang stated, "Cyberver stands out with its unique asset retrieval, procedural placement, and content generation capabilities, offering greater flexibility and control than competitors. It seamlessly integrates with Unreal and Unity, supports cloud-based collaboration, and ensures ethical use of licensed assets, providing a comprehensive and scalable solution for 3D creation." As for the inspiration behind the platform, the founders bonded over their shared passion for storytelling and would have become novelists if they weren't in their current roles. On her first day at Google X, Shen started working on a project involving object detection, simulation, visualization, and evaluation - an unexpected delight that led her into the field of 3D procedural generation. This experience sparked her love for the field. Yang, who was the research director and Shen's direct manager at Google X, eventually became the co-founder and CTO of Cyberver. The team consists of over 25 members.
