Next Generation iPhone SE May Come with Apple Intelligence Feature

2024-08-12

So far, the only way to experience Apple Intelligence features on the iPhone is through the iPhone 15 Pro. According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg in his "Power On" newsletter, it is expected that the entire iPhone 16 series will receive these features in the fall of this year, but "you can also bet" that the iPhone SE, expected to be launched as early as early 2025, will also have these features. If this is true, giving up Apple's cheapest phone may become even more difficult.

The deal with the iPhone SE has always been this: you get a cheap and decent-performing iPhone, but it comes with an outdated body design (most recently the design of the iPhone 8). This has always been Apple's compromise in terms of budget, and it's very obvious!

However, there have long been rumors that the next generation of the iPhone SE will adopt the body design of the iPhone 14, finally getting rid of the design from the iPhone 8 era, and may even be equipped with a 6.1-inch OLED screen. Coupled with the fact that Apple's device-side AI features cannot run on the iPhone 15 because it is not powerful enough, it does sound like the next generation of the iPhone SE will be both powerful and modern.

The upcoming iPhone 16 is expected to have other advantages, such as dual cameras and the action button from the 15 Pro, but these features have not been rumored to appear on the iPhone SE. But how important are these features to the average person? If the next generation of the iPhone SE has a similar appearance to the iPhone 14, performance roughly comparable to the iPhone 16 series, and a price that is still affordable like the iPhone SE, will people give up the savings for the convenience features of the more expensive iPhone? I think we will soon find out the answer.
