CES 2025: Nvidia RTX50 Series GPUs, Autonomous Driving Solutions and More Make a Splash

2025-01-07

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang delivered a keynote speech at CES 2025, outlining the company's plans for both consumer and enterprise markets in artificial intelligence for the coming year. He unveiled a range of innovative software technologies aimed at enhancing humanoid robot training and powering diverse AI applications.

Meanwhile, Nvidia announced the release of new gaming hardware, including the highly anticipated GeForce RTX 5090 desktop GPU priced at $1999.

New AI Chip

Nvidia introduced a new AI superchip called GB10. This chip is not an upgrade of the Blackwell chip launched at GTC 2024 in March last year but rather a compact version of the high-performance GB200 platform, which has been adopted by clients like Amazon, Google, Meta, Microsoft, and Tesla. The GB10 ingeniously combines a Blackwell GPU with a Grace CPU, creating a unique configuration.

Huang revealed, "This compact chip is already in full production and is expected to be officially launched in May."

Notably, Nvidia does not position GB10 as a data center platform but plans to integrate it into a desktop PC named Project DIGITS. Project DIGITS pairs GB10 with 128GB unified memory and 4TB storage, forming a desktop AI computing system.

Robots and Autonomous Vehicles

In addition to the new chip and desktop PC, Nvidia showcased its new Cosmos platform for developing physical AI systems such as robots and autonomous vehicles. This platform uses world foundation models (WFMs), AI models simulating real-world conditions, to help companies simulate various scenarios in virtual environments, reducing development costs.

Furthermore, Nvidia introduced Isaac GROOT Blueprint software, which developers can use with Apple's Vision Pro headset to train humanoid robots for specific situations and environments.

In the automotive sector, Nvidia disclosed that Toyota, Conti, and Aurora are utilizing its automotive technology suite to drive advanced driving and autonomous systems. Huang stated, "The revolution of autonomous vehicles is here, and I predict this will become the first trillion-dollar robotics industry."

Graphics Cards

Nvidia also did not forget its gaming roots. During his presentation, Huang showcased the new GeForce RTX 50 series GPUs for desktops and laptops. The top-of-the-line RTX 5090 offers double the performance of the previous generation's flagship RTX 4090, while the new entry-level RTX 5070 achieves comparable gaming capabilities to the RTX 4090 through improved proprietary DLSS software, providing players with smoother and more realistic gaming experiences.

Huang's speech covered Nvidia's latest advancements and innovations in AI, robotics, autonomous vehicles, and gaming graphics cards. These innovations will not only drive the development and transformation of related industries but also bring more choices and conveniences to consumers and enterprise users. With Nvidia's impressive showing at CES 2025, we look forward to seeing more groundbreaking innovations emerge.
