OpenAI's First Developer Conference Sparks Artificial Intelligence Market, ChatGPT Plus Subscription Sold Out Overnight

OpenAI has temporarily paused the registration for its advanced subscription plan, ChatGPT Plus, due to high usage following its first developer conference, DevDay. OpenAI's founder and CEO, Sam Altman, wrote an article on X stating that the usage after the conference "exceeded our capacity." "We have temporarily stopped new registrations for ChatGPT Plus. The usage surge after the conference has exceeded our capacity, and we want to ensure that everyone has a good experience. You can still sign up within the app to be notified when the subscription reopens," he wrote in his article. OpenAI's first DevDay took place on November 6th in the Hayes Valley community of San Francisco and attracted approximately 900 developers. The conference was not only seen as a product launch event but also as a glimpse into OpenAI's plans to commercialize its artificial intelligence (AI) product, ChatGPT. Some of the new features announced at the conference include a GPT Store, similar to an app store, expected to launch later this month. The company also allows users to build custom versions of the AI chatbot, ChatGPT. Additionally, they introduced GPT4 Turbo, a large language model (LLM) that is more advanced, user-friendly, and cost-effective.
