Apple Unveils New Generative AI Features for iPhone at WWDC 2024

Apple seems to be lagging behind tech giants like Google, Meta, and even Samsung in terms of artificial intelligence (AI). Even at the recent iPhone 15 launch event, Apple didn't focus much on AI, which disappointed fans who were expecting the latest technology. However, Apple is expected to make breakthroughs in AI by 2024.

According to Bloomberg, Apple plans to introduce a series of AI-based tools for products like the iPhone at the WWDC in June. Apple will introduce its generative AI products in iOS 18. These new AI-supported updates will include features such as automatic summaries and auto-completion for core applications, integrating AI into services like Apple Music, transforming its assistant Siri, and introducing new AI-based tools for developers.

Since early 2023, Apple has been secretly testing its "Ajax" language model to make its products smarter. Ajax LLM can provide auto-completion for Pages and Keynote, AI-driven playlists for Apple Music, and AI troubleshooting for AppleCare.

However, Apple's AI upgrades will be a gradual process. Users will have to wait until 2025 to fully enjoy them. Reports suggest that "Apple's generative AI vision will not be fully realized until at least 2025." Meanwhile, Samsung will launch its first AI-driven phone, the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, on January 17, which may overshadow Apple's efforts.

In 2024, Apple will also release a series of new products, including the highly anticipated Vision Pro headphones, redesigned iPad Pro, upgraded Apple TV 4K with new chips, iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro, Apple Watch X, fourth-generation AirPods, refreshed AirPods Max, seventh-generation iPad mini, 11th-generation iPad, new Mac mini, and new MacBook Pro. These products will feature larger displays, OLED technology, M3 and M4 series chips, spatial video capture, gesture buttons, ultra-wide-angle cameras, capture buttons, USB-C, and other new features and accessories.
