Gmail Web Introduces AI-Assisted Email Composition Feature

Google has recently announced that its "Help Me Write" feature will be extended to the web version of Gmail, allowing users to swiftly create or modify emails using Gemini AI. Similar to the mobile platform, users will receive prompts to use this feature when opening a new email draft in Gmail.

Currently, Google's "Help Me Write" feature is available only to users who subscribe to the Google One AI Premium service or have the Gemini plugin in Workspace. In addition to generating email drafts, "Help Me Write" can also offer suggestions to formalize, elaborate, or simplify information.

Furthermore, Google has added a "Polish" shortcut to the "Help Me Write" toolset, which appears when an email draft exceeds 12 words. For Gmail web users, clicking this shortcut or pressing Ctrl+H allows for quick optimization of email content.

On the mobile side, the existing "Optimize Draft" shortcut will be replaced. Users will no longer need to swipe through options such as polish, formalize, elaborate, or simplify their emails; instead, they can simply swipe the "Polish" shortcut, and the app will automatically enhance the email content. Afterwards, users can further adjust the email using Google's other AI editing tools.

Starting today, Google will gradually roll out the "Help Me Write" feature and its "Polish" shortcut for the Gmail web version.
