Vox Media announces partnership with OpenAI
Vox Media, the parent company of popular digital media brands such as The Verge, Vox, Eater, Vulture, SB Nation, and New York Magazine, has announced a strategic content and product partnership with OpenAI. This collaboration is similar to the one announced earlier today between OpenAI and The Atlantic.
ChatGPT and future OpenAI products will be able to integrate news from various media outlets under Vox Media. When AI responds to prompts containing content from these publications, OpenAI will provide brand attribution and links to relevant articles.
In addition to content sharing, Vox Media plans to leverage OpenAI's technology to create applications for both its audience and internal use. For example, it plans to utilize OpenAI's technology in its affiliated business product, The Strategist Gift Scout, and its data platform, Forte, to enhance advertising effectiveness and improve user experience.
Jim Bankoff, co-founder, chairman, and CEO of Vox Media, expressed excitement about this partnership, stating, "This agreement aligns with our goal of leveraging generative AI to innovate, protect, and enhance the value of our work and intellectual property for our audience and clients, as well as to increase productivity and discoverability, in order to elevate the talents and creativity of our outstanding journalists and creators."
OpenAI continues to establish partnerships with renowned media companies to enhance its AI models and avoid potential copyright litigation. These collaborations benefit both parties, with media companies gaining exposure to new audiences and financial benefits, while OpenAI obtains valuable training data.
