"Nothing Unveils New Ear Series Wireless Earbuds with Integrated ChatGPT Support"

2024-04-19

Nothing announced plans to further integrate ChatGPT technology into its smartphones and earbuds to improve customer service convenience. In a blog post, the company stated, 'With the new integrated technology, users of the latest Nothing OS and ChatGPT on Nothing phones can interact directly with the world's most popular consumer AI tool through the pinch gesture on Nothing earbuds.' Excitingly, this feature is supported by the new Nothing Ear and Ear (a) earbuds.

According to Jane Nho, spokesperson for Nothing, the gradual rollout of this integration will begin on April 18th, starting with Phone 2, followed by Phone 1 and Phone 2A in the coming weeks. Once the update is complete, users will be able to easily access ChatGPT with Nothing earbuds. This suggests that ChatGPT may become the preferred digital assistant for Nothing earbud users. However, the smoothness of the actual operation remains to be seen.

But that's not all. The blog post also revealed that 'Nothing will further enhance the smartphone user experience of Nothing OS by embedding entry points for ChatGPT into the system, including screenshot sharing and Nothing-specific widgets.'

This news comes after the release of a series of new AI devices, such as the controversial Humane AI Pin, and the $199 Rabbit R1, which will be launched in the coming weeks, further driving the development of AI technology.

However, Nothing's ChatGPT strategy primarily revolves around its existing devices. Carl Pei's startup is not attempting to reshape the market by developing new hardware devices, at least not yet. Additionally, the company does not force users to accept this integration.
