Recently, Stability AI announced the introduction of three advanced text-to-image generation AI models into Amazon Web Services' (AWS) Amazon Bedrock service. These three models are Stable Image Ultra, Stable Diffusion 3 Large, and Stable Image Core, aiming to cover different application scenarios ranging from hyper-realistic images to large-scale asset generation, providing more choices for enterprise users.
Previously, Stability AI had provided its earlier but still powerful SDXL model on Amazon Bedrock. Now, with the addition of the new models, the lineup of models on Amazon Bedrock has further expanded. In addition to Stability AI's models, Amazon Bedrock also offers various image generation models, including its own Titan.
Stability AI's models have gone through multiple iterations in the past few years, especially this year, with the introduction of several variant models. Stable Diffusion 3.0 first appeared in preview form in February of this year and was fully launched in April. In June, Stable Diffusion Medium model and the original model were renamed Stable Diffusion Large and released simultaneously. At the same time, Stable Diffusion Ultra was quietly launched via API.
According to Scott Trowbridge, Vice President of Business Development at Stability AI, Stable Image Ultra is the company's flagship product, combining the powerful features and advanced workflows of SD3 Large to provide top-quality images for industries such as marketing, advertising, and architecture. Stable Image Core, based on SDXL, focuses more on speed and cost-effectiveness. As for the Stable Diffusion 3 Medium model, it is highly adaptable and suitable for running on personal computers, laptops, and enterprise-grade GPUs. Currently, it is only available for self-hosting or access through API.
Last December, Stability AI introduced a membership model to increase its sources of commercial revenue. In addition, the company also provides model access services through the Stable Assistant chatbot, charging users based on usage.
This year, Stability AI has undergone a series of changes, including the resignation of founder and CEO Emad Mostaque in March, replaced by Prem Akkaraju, accompanied by a new round of funding. Although it is currently unclear how much it costs to run these models on Amazon Bedrock, this marks Stability AI's expansion of its market access channels through various means. It is expected that the collaboration with AWS will not be the only one, and there may be future collaborations with other cloud service providers.
