Adobe to Launch AI Agent Tools for Photoshop and Premiere Pro

2025-04-10

Adobe's Chief Technology Officer of Digital Media, Eli Greenfield, disclosed in a blog post that the company is developing AI agent tools for Photoshop and Premiere Pro. These tools aim to enhance users' creative efficiency by providing automated editing suggestions and task execution capabilities.

The AI agent tool for Photoshop, named "Creative Agent," introduces its core functionality through a new floating operation panel. This tool analyzes images and offers intelligent editing suggestions, such as automatically identifying and removing background figures or highlighting the main subject via depth-of-field adjustments. Users simply need to click on the suggested options, and the system will automatically carry out the corresponding operations. This innovation moves beyond traditional manual editing methods, eliminating the need for complex layer and mask manipulations for localized adjustments.

In the long term, this tool aims to support natural language command interactions. Users can describe their creative needs in text, and the system will generate step-by-step operation plans. For example, if a user requests to "clean up the scene and add a text box behind the person," the system will execute steps like removing background figures, auto-adjusting brightness, clearing distracting elements, creating subject layers, generating text layers, and organizing layers. While users can still manually adjust layer settings, the AI agent will significantly lower the learning curve for complex tasks.

The AI agent functionalities for Premiere Pro will be based on the media intelligence analysis technology released last week. This technology already enables object recognition and composition analysis in video content. Future agent tools will allow users to generate rough cuts of videos through commands. Adobe plans to extend AI agent features to optimize lens selection, color correction, audio mixing, and other editing processes. They have also introduced the Generative Extend feature, which uses AI algorithms to automatically extend video clip durations to meet transition needs.

Adobe intends to unveil the AI agent technology for Photoshop at the Max event in London on April 24. This technology will drive the evolution of professional design software toward a human-machine collaborative creation model through intelligent suggestions and automated execution functions.
