Perplexity CEO Denies Financial Issues, Says No IPO Plan Before 2028

Aravind Srinivas, CEO of Perplexity, recently addressed user complaints about the company's product on Reddit, reassuring them that the company is not under severe financial strain.

Srinivas appeared to be responding in part to a user's speculation that the company was "in financial trouble" and "making significant changes to cut costs." As an example, the user mentioned Perplexity’s Auto mode, where the AI search engine automatically selects a model to answer users' queries.

On the contrary, Srinivas explained that Perplexity created Auto mode because "all AI products are currently being released with a lot of buttons and drop-down menus, leading to clutter," which he believes is "unsustainable."

"Users shouldn't have to learn too much to use a product," he stated.

As for whether Perplexity is under pressure to cut costs or go public, Srinivas said, "We have all the funds we’ve raised, and our revenue is only growing." In fact, he noted that the company "has no plans to go public before 2028."
