Neo4j Upgrades AuraDB, Driving Graph Database Technology Adoption

2024-09-05

Neo4j recently announced a major upgrade to its fully managed cloud graph database service, AuraDB, aimed at simplifying the user experience for enterprise users and enhancing its performance through integrated generative artificial intelligence technology. This update includes a 15-fold increase in read capacity, advanced data security controls, and industry-standard compliance features.

In addition, Neo4j has introduced a new AI-powered assistant tool that utilizes a large language model (LLM) from OpenAI to provide real-time transformation suggestions for natural language queries into Cypher query code. This feature makes writing complex queries easier and faster.

The new version of AuraDB also introduces NeoDash, a no-code/low-code interactive dashboard builder that allows users to analyze and visualize data in a more intuitive way. This tool enables the creation of various charts and maps, making data visualization more convenient.

To enhance data protection, the new version of AuraDB offers client-managed key encryption options and enables real-time security log streaming and auditing. In terms of performance, the addition of read replicas allows for significant improvements in read capacity to handle high-load read operations.

Meanwhile, Neo4j has launched a new pricing model called AuraDB Business Critical, which is 20% cheaper than its previous flagship product and is primarily offered to customers through self-service. The existing premium service has been renamed AuraDB Virtual Dedicated Cloud and runs on dedicated infrastructure.

According to Sudhir Hasbe, Chief Product Officer at Neo4j, Aura services have been chosen by approximately 30-40% of new customers in the past twelve quarters. Currently, the company has attracted over 1,700 customers and 300,000 developers using its graph database technology. Market research firm Gartner predicts that by 2025, graph technology will cover 80% of the workload for data analysis, a significant increase from 10% in 2021.
