Intel announces the establishment of Articul8 AI, an independent company that provides a full-stack generative AI software platform for enterprise customers. With support from DigitalBridge Ventures and other investors, Articul8 emerged from Intel's own AI research with the goal of accelerating the adoption of this transformative technology.
Articul8's platform securely runs generative AI workloads within an organization's own infrastructure. This enables customers to leverage AI insights while maintaining control over their data. The company promises benefits such as speed, scalability, security, and cost-effectiveness for enterprises.
Intel initially collaborated with Boston Consulting Group (BCG) to build a generative AI system optimized on Intel hardware. This met BCG's need for a local solution that doesn't compromise sensitive data. Arun Subramaniyan, the incoming CEO of Articul8, stated that many other potential customers have expressed similar concerns about data privacy and security.
Subramaniyan, who previously led AI and data center strategy, envisions taking enterprise-grade generative AI beyond the proof-of-concept stage and making it mainstream. The expert team at Articul8 brings together seasoned professionals from Intel, AWS, BCG, and other industry leaders, aiming to operationalize AI across various sectors.
As an independent company, Intel and Articul8 will align strategically. Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger emphasized the strategic importance of this investment. "With deep AI and high-performance computing (HPC) expertise, Articul8 is poised to significantly enhance Intel's business outcomes and our extensive network of customers and partners," commented Gelsinger. This move is part of Intel's broader strategy to democratize AI technology across different domains.
Articul8's funding includes participation from Intel and renowned venture capitalists such as Fin Capital and Mindset Ventures, each gaining equity in the new company.
DigitalBridge CEO Marc Ganzi expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration. "Generative AI is a game-changer for global enterprises integrating AI into their operations. Articul8's scalable and user-friendly generative AI platform is set to revolutionize how businesses leverage their proprietary data," said Ganzi.
As AI technology matures, enterprises are becoming aware of its potential while proceeding cautiously. Intel's spin-off of Articul8 is aimed at meeting the demand for AI capabilities without relinquishing control over data. This model may be particularly attractive in heavily regulated industries grappling with digital transformation.
