Oracle and Google Cloud announce collaboration to deliver seamless multi-cloud experience

2024-06-13

Google Cloud and Oracle have announced a strategic partnership that enables customers to seamlessly migrate and run critical enterprise workloads between the two cloud platforms. This collaboration aims to provide customers with a unified framework that combines the strengths of Oracle's database and enterprise application products with Google Cloud's infrastructure and AI solutions. The core of this partnership is Oracle Database@Google Cloud, which allows Oracle to directly host, operate, and manage Oracle database services within Google Cloud data centers. This integration eliminates the need for customers to deal with additional costs, such as cross-cloud data transfer fees, and provides end-to-end enterprise-level support. Now, customers can directly purchase Oracle database services, including Exadata Cloud Service and Oracle Autonomous Database, from the Google Marketplace and manage them through their Google Cloud console. Additionally, this collaboration enables customers to connect Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) with Google Cloud without incurring any cross-cloud data transfer fees. It is expected that this partnership will benefit enterprises across various industries globally, including financial services, healthcare, retail, and manufacturing. By leveraging the combined strengths of both cloud service providers, customers can accelerate their cloud migration process, modernize their IT environments, and utilize Google Cloud's AI capabilities such as Vertex AI and Gemini foundational models. Oracle will operate and manage its database services directly within Google Cloud data centers, starting with North America and Europe, with plans for rapid global expansion. This partnership also includes the introduction of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Google Cross-Cloud Interconnect, allowing customers to deploy workloads between OCI and Google Cloud regions without paying cross-cloud data transfer fees.
