Recently, Gemini users received an update email announcing a series of positive changes for free accounts. Starting in November, Google will grant all Gemini users the ability to upload and analyze files, albeit with certain usage restrictions.
Specifically, free users will have access to a relatively small context window of 32,000 tokens, which is approximately equivalent to processing 50 pages of text, and there will be corresponding daily usage limits. Previously, this feature was exclusive to Gemini premium users, but now free users will also enjoy this benefit.
Another major update is the addition of a search function to Gemini Live. When Gemini Live was first launched, this feature was not available. Now, with internet access capabilities, Gemini Live can provide more timely and relevant information, making it more practical than before.
