According to the latest report from The Register, Google's AI chatbot, called Articulate Medical Intelligence Explorer (AMIE), is better at diagnosing medical conditions in text-based interactions than human doctors. In the experiment, 20 simulated patients with fictional illnesses interacted with AMIE and 20 professional primary care physicians. The patients were unaware whether they were conversing with an AI or a human doctor and were asked to evaluate the communication quality in 149 case scenarios.

Most participants expressed a preference for AMIE, praising its empathy, clear responses, and professionalism. This preference highlights the AI's ability to maintain consistency and focus, unaffected by human limitations such as fatigue or distraction.
