Intel's new CEO, Lip-Bu Tan, appears ready to immediately tackle the challenges facing the struggling company.

The semiconductor giant's new leader is reportedly contemplating a major overhaul of the company's chip manufacturing and artificial intelligence strategies. According to Reuters, this includes cutting middle management positions and transforming the approach to chip production. Tan reportedly told employees that he needs to make "tough decisions" to put the company back on the right path.

Tan was announced as Intel's new CEO last week. After leaving Intel's board in August 2024 due to conflicts with former CEO Pat Gelsinger, he will rejoin the company on Tuesday.

Intel declined to comment on the matter.
