China to Host World's First AI Marathon Pitting Humans Against Robots

2025-01-21

In China, the enthusiasm for artificial intelligence and humanoid robots is unprecedented. According to data from the International Federation of Robotics, in 2023, domestic companies in China installed 276,288 robots, accounting for 51% of global installations. It is expected that by 2030, the industry will reach a value of 400 billion yuan (approximately $54.6 billion).

The Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone not only organized this marathon but also deployed robots in electric vehicle factories of BYD in China. Following this marathon, Beijing plans to hold another robotics sports event in August, covering athletics, football, and more. Additionally, Beijing plans to invest 60 billion yuan (approximately $8.21 billion) in AI research and development this year.

Currently, participants must make their decision by February. This unique marathon is scheduled to take place in April this year in Beijing. Let's look forward to the exciting competition between humans and robots!
