Dell and NVIDIA collaborate to build "AI Factory" for enterprises
At the 2024 Dell Technologies World Conference, Dell CEO Michael Dell and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang announced an expanded collaboration between Dell and NVIDIA, focusing on their "AI Factory" initiative, which builds upon their initial partnership announced in July 2023.
The new Dell AI Factory, in collaboration with NVIDIA, combines the hardware and software of both companies to accelerate the adoption of generative AI tools by enterprises. This collaboration aims to simplify and expedite the adoption of AI, with reported reductions in setup time by 86%.
The initiative will showcase products powered by NVIDIA's recently released Blackwell chip. This includes the new Dell PowerEdge XE9680L server, featuring a more compact design that supports eight NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs, as well as a new Dell Digital Assistant generative AI solution designed for rapid deployment of digital assistants.
Dell and NVIDIA's collaboration in the realm of intelligent manufacturing was highlighted during the event. Jensen Huang stated, "We now have the ability to manufacture intelligence. The previous industrial revolution was the manufacturing of software, and before that, it was the manufacturing of electricity. Now, we are manufacturing intelligence."
Huang described this collaboration as the largest AI computing market promotion in history, emphasizing Dell's unique capabilities in building computer networks, storage, and exceptional software integration, whether it be for air-cooled or liquid-cooled systems.
Huang also pointed out the significant opportunities that companies like Dell and NVIDIA face in providing the necessary hardware for the emerging era of AI-driven technologies.
He mentioned, "We have two things to do," and highlighted the goals of "modernizing the trillion-dollar data centers in the world" and "building these AI factories for the remaining ten trillion-dollar industries."
Dell emphasized the critical timing of their collaboration with NVIDIA, stating, "Organizations are rapidly seizing the opportunity of AI, which is why our partnership with NVIDIA is so important." He added that Dell's collaboration with NVIDIA expands the Dell AI Factory project, continuing their shared mission of simplifying AI implementation for organizations and driving them into the next technological revolution.
With the growing demand for AI, Dell positions itself as a key partner in helping organizations navigate and adopt these new technologies, with strong support from NVIDIA.
