Google Appears to Be Developing a Paid "Premium" Version of Bard
Google appears to be developing an upgraded version of Bard called "Bard Advanced," which will be available through a paid subscription, according to developer Dylan Roussel's post on X.
According to Roussel, Bard Advanced seems to be using Gemini Ultra, the top-tier version of Google's recently announced Large Language Model (LLM). One of the screenshots shared by Roussel describes Bard Advanced as a "more powerful large language model with advanced mathematical and reasoning skills." Developer Bedros Pamboukian also discovered a piece of code indicating that Google is researching an "advanced" tier.
Furthermore, Roussel found more updates and shared screenshots, including a feature codenamed Motoko, which may allow users to create custom robots. However, there is currently no indication whether users will be able to share these robots or if they will need to pay to access this feature. Last year, OpenAI announced that GPT Plus subscribers could create and share custom robots.
Google may also introduce an "enhancement" feature that uses AI to expand and improve the prompts provided to Bard. The content discovered by Roussel mentions a section called "Gallery," which he speculates will allow users to "explore different topics and see what you can do with Bard." Other minor adjustments shown in the screenshots include a new "Tasks" label that you can use to track Bard's ongoing long-term tasks, such as image generation, and a way to add custom backgrounds to shared Bard prompts.
We still do not know when (or if) these features will become official versions.
In recent months, Google has made a series of upgrades to Bard, such as enabling it to respond to queries in real-time and answer questions about YouTube videos, as it tries to keep up with competitors like ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot.
