YouTube Music's "Ask Music" Radio Generator Launches on iOS

2025-03-18

Recently, YouTube Music announced that its highly anticipated AI-driven feature, the "Ask Music" radio generator, has officially expanded to iPhone and iPad platforms after a successful launch on Android devices in September. This expansion brings personalized music experiences to even more users.

Following the feature's launch, users will notice a prominently placed section called "Ask for Music" within the "Home" tab. Positioned near the top of the main page, this section showcases a rotating carousel with ten carefully selected prompts. With just a simple tap, users can automatically generate a personalized radio station tailored to their preferences.

In addition, the "Ask Music" feature offers a versatile input box allowing users to "ask anything they like," complete with a convenient voice input shortcut. These prompts can describe a mood, activity, or listening experience, whether brief or detailed. YouTube Music uses this input to create a customized radio station for each user.

After entering a prompt, YouTube Music quickly leverages advanced AI technology to craft a dedicated station for the user. The system plays the first three songs immediately while displaying them. Users also have the option to "Add to Library" to save these tracks for future reference and sharing. Each station comes with a concise yet engaging description, giving users deeper insight into its theme and style.

This feature seamlessly integrates with YouTube Music’s existing Music Tuner experience, providing users with an even broader range of options. In addition to selecting artists and specifying details such as artist diversity, music discovery, and filtering, users can easily access this feature via the "Library" tab > the new FAB (Floating Action Button) > Radio.

It’s worth noting that the "Ask Music" feature requires a subscription to YouTube Music or Music Premium. Currently available in countries like the United States, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia, the feature has been met with enthusiastic feedback from users. Google has also revealed plans to roll out the feature in more countries soon, with iOS support now live (requiring version 8.10 or higher).

YouTube Music emphasized its ongoing commitment to delivering more personalized and intelligent music experiences. The launch of the "Ask Music" radio generator marks a significant step forward in achieving that goal. Moving forward, the platform plans to continue innovating by introducing more cutting-edge features and high-quality services for its users.

With the successful debut of the "Ask Music" radio generator on iOS, it is expected that more users will enjoy a highly tailored music experience. We look forward to seeing how YouTube Music continues to lead innovation within the music industry in the future.
