Google May Soon Obliterate ChatGPT

2024-01-26

Recently, Google has integrated generative artificial intelligence features into Google Chrome. In the upcoming release of Chrome next month, a new experimental AI feature will enhance your writing confidence online.

Google has also launched the "Help me write" feature on all websites. By right-clicking on any text box, users can access this feature, prompting Google's AI to ask them about their writing requirements and then generate a draft.

This feature can assist you whether you are carefully crafting a clear restaurant review, creating a friendly response for an event, or making a formal inquiry about renting a house.

If this feature is integrated into Google Chrome, it will greatly reduce the need for users to draft content on ChatGPT. Many of us work directly on the web, whether it's sending emails, drafting articles, or creating presentations.

Sundar Pichai said, "Google Chrome's new generative AI feature makes it easier for you to accomplish tasks online: organize your tabs, get help when writing online, and customize your Chrome background with AI-based suggestions."

Considering that search is Google's strength, this move by Google is strategic, and Chrome currently has 3.22 billion internet users, while ChatGPT users number 100 million. Google further stated that this year it will introduce AI and ML into Chrome, including integrating the new AI model Gemini to help users browse more easily and quickly.

Recently, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella confirmed that Google's influence in the online search field is ubiquitous, and even his company finds it difficult to compete with it on the internet. Nadella said that the internet is actually the "Google net."

A user on X wrote, "Congratulations on the release! This puts Chrome on par with Bing, which was launched a year ago." Another user wrote, "Just think about all the possibilities that AI offers us in our daily online activities, it's truly amazing. Can't wait to see how these features will develop in the future!"

In addition, we have all faced the problem of opening multiple tabs in Chrome while browsing. Don't worry, Google may have also solved this problem. Using the tab manager, Chrome will automatically suggest and create tab groups based on the tabs you open. This will be particularly useful if you are multitasking in Chrome, such as planning a trip, researching topics, and shopping.

To use this feature, right-click on a tab and select "Organize similar tabs" or click the dropdown arrow on the left side of the tab. Chrome will even suggest names and emojis for these new groups, making it easy for you to find them again when you need them.

The Chrome Web Store is being enhanced with artificial intelligence. Users will be able to choose images, styles, colors, and other preferences, and Chrome will automatically create a browser theme that aligns with the selected elements. To get started, visit the "Customize Chrome" sidebar, click "Change theme," and then click "Create with AI."

Google leads OpenAI by two steps

In addition to text generation, Google is also far ahead in multimodal capabilities. Google recently launched Lumiere, a diffusion model from text to video that can synthesize videos, creating realistic, diverse, and coherent motion.

Unlike existing models, Lumiere, with its cutting-edge spatiotemporal U-Net architecture, can generate complete videos in a single consistent process. It aims to enable users to creatively create visual content, allowing the generation of realistic or real video clips up to 5 seconds long.

As of today, OpenAI has not publicly released a video generation model on its API. However, they are actively researching and developing technology in this area, indicating that there may be progress with the release of GPT-5.

By 2024, several companies, including Google, Anthropic, Mistral, and Meta, are expected to be on par with the capabilities of GPT-4.
