Microsoft, Amazon, Nvidia, Arm, Samsung, T-Mobile, Nokia, and other companies jointly established the AI-RAN Alliance this Monday, focusing on the research and development of integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into cellular technology.
The AI-RAN Alliance stated that its goal is to "improve mobile network efficiency, reduce power consumption, transform existing infrastructure" to unlock "new economic opportunities brought by AI" for telecommunications companies using 5G and 6G technologies.
As multiple tech giants seek to consolidate their positions in the AI boom through collaboration, the AI-RAN Alliance has emerged.
Palo Alto Networks also announced on Monday that it has established partnerships with multiple companies, including Nvidia, to provide private 5G security services and solutions.
In December 2023, Meta and IBM also announced the establishment of a group called AI Alliance.
Amazon (AMZN), Arm (ARM), Microsoft (MSFT), Nvidia (NVDA), and other companies are joining forces to establish the AI-RAN Alliance, a group focused on integrating AI into cellular technology, while large tech companies are collaborating to strengthen their positions in the AI boom.
The founding members of this group include Ericsson (ERIC), Samsung, Nokia (NOK), Northeastern University, SoftBank, T-Mobile (TMUS), and DeepSig.
According to a statement, the alliance aims to "improve mobile network efficiency, reduce power consumption, transform existing infrastructure, unlock new economic opportunities brought by AI for telecommunications companies, and be supported by 5G and 6G technologies."
"Network operators in the alliance will lead the testing and implementation of these advanced technologies developed through collective research efforts of member companies and universities," stated the AI-RAN Alliance.
The establishment of the AI-RAN Alliance comes as multiple tech giants seek to strengthen their ability to meet the surging demand for AI products and services through collaboration.
Palo Alto Networks (PANW) also announced a collaboration on Monday, partnering with multiple companies including Nvidia to provide private 5G security services and solutions.
Meta and IBM launched the AI Alliance in December 2023, an international community focused on "open, secure, and responsible AI," with members including Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Dell (DELL), and Intel (INTC).
Following Nvidia's record-breaking week, the AI-RAN Alliance was officially established. Nvidia set a new record for the largest single-day market value increase on Thursday, and its market value briefly exceeded $2 trillion on Friday, mainly due to the market's optimism about AI.
