Google has announced the rollout of Gemini Live's real-time camera Q&A and screen sharing features on Pixel 9 series devices and Samsung Galaxy S25 smartphones. This innovative feature enables users to interact with the conversational AI assistant through live video or shared screen content, obtaining instant answers about what they're viewing.
This complimentary update is expected to reach other Android devices in the near future, though access requires a subscription to the Gemini Advanced service. With a single tap to activate the live video function, users can ask Gemini Live questions based on the visuals captured by their camera. For instance, pointing the camera at an aquarium allows users to inquire about specific fish species; alternatively, using the screen sharing option lets them display shopping website pages for AI-powered product comparisons or styling suggestions.
Last month, Google representatives confirmed to media outlets that these capabilities were beginning to reach users. Some Reddit users have reported finding the feature on their devices, including Xiaomi phones. These functionalities were first unveiled under the name "Project Astra" during May's Google I/O developer conference.
At present, the Gemini Live service supports 45 languages and is available exclusively to users aged 18 and above (excluding educational and enterprise accounts) in select countries.
