Deutsche Telekom, in collaboration with Qualcomm and Brain.AI, is advocating for the first-ever concept of an artificial intelligence (AI) smartphone, with the goal of creating an application-less intelligent device.
Last Thursday (February 15th), Telekom's website announced this idea through a press release, stating, "An AI-based assistant can redefine the countless applications on smartphones. Like a commander, it can understand your goals and take care of the details."
Deutsche Telekom is developing a smartphone without applications. The AI will predict and generate the next interface seamlessly based on the user's intentions and context. The AI will be hosted in the cloud.
The purpose of this application-less AI smartphone is to take over the functionalities of various applications and perform everyday tasks through voice commands. Brain.AI will power Deutsche Telekom's generative interface. The German company, known for its telecommunications brand T-Mobile, will present its idea at the 2024 World Mobile Congress in Barcelona next week (February 26th-29th).
Jon Abrahamson, Chief Product and Digital Officer, shared more information on the company's website, stating, "Artificial intelligence and large language models (LLMs) will soon become an integral part of mobile devices. We will leverage them to improve and simplify our customers' lives. Our vision is to create an application-less intelligent smartphone, a true everyday companion that meets our needs and simplifies our digital lives."
More information may be shared next week when this idea is unveiled to industry experts. Alongside showcasing this concept, Deutsche Telekom will also present another version of an AI smartphone powered by Snapdragon® 8 Gen 3 reference design.
Global mobile operators, device manufacturers, technology providers, suppliers, and content owners will attend this conference, including companies like Meta Platforms Inc, Orange, and 3Tech Corporate Limited.
